Tbilisi, Freedom Square. EU and NATO flags are hanging in front of a tall building, with doors closed. They cover the whole corner of the upper level. “INFORMATION CENTER OF NATO AND EU” was written on the walls. The letters almost disappear. Same as the sign obove the entry. They are painted over – same paint as the wall of the house. The door to the information center is locked. Simple black plastic pots with white flowers cover the stairs.
An old lady is sitting between more flowers. The cracked paint above her head seems like a symbol. Things are not going well in Georgia. Not at all.
One by one, Russia, the big neighbor in the north, is imposing influence – on the Government, and on the people, restricting basic rights of the people of Georgia. From underneath at first, and now open to see. Public. What is left of democracy in Georgia? It seems a rope is tied around the neck of Georgia´s vibrant society. People are suffering.
