Today – elections in Georgia. The outcome of the elections in Georgia will be a milestone for the future – towards Moscow or towards the EU.
Georgia was granted the EU applicant status. The country has made great efforts to fulfill all requirements. But Russia is influencing politics in Georgia through the ruling party Georgia Dream – a nightmare to many in the country.
Behind the curtains, there is a struggle for influence and power. Georgia has an important role to connect the Caucasus and Central Asia. Major energy power lines are likely to be build from Central Asia through the Caucasus and on to Europe. They are needed, even though green energy is the future. Gas from Central Asia will play an important role.
It is not the wonderful Georgian food and wine, the big players are after, but the energy.
