Greetings to all my friends in Georgia!
Exactly ten years ago Georgia was invaded by Russia, involved in a conflict that has an international background: A war about energy! New pipelines running through Georgia, bringing Caspian energy to Turkey and western markets. The Caucasus is in the focus of geopolitics and strategic interests of great powers. Also, it was the first time that a cyberwar took place, parallel to the military actions on the ground.
The EU negotiated a peace agreement with Russia, French President Sarkosy representing the EU and Russian President Medwedjew.
So sorry, that peaceful people as Georgians are involved in such a terrible conflict and suffering!
Still two regions are occupied by Russia.
But besides that, things have improved so much since then!
